I had this blog created specifically so I can post updates about my wife Lisette (aka the One) and my son Carlos Vicente (now, aka littlebigboy). But alas! I checked all my posts and there’s zilch about littlebigboy!
So this piece will be about my son Carlos, my littlebigboy.
Carlos was born on July 07, 2007. That’s triple 7, so I guess he’ll be lucky. His circumstances were all about luck from the start. When we first learned the One is pregnant, the joy we felt was quickly washed out as the doctor says the One needs to be operated upon quickly. Three berries somehow decided to cling around her ovaries, the doctor was even surprised the littlebigboy was even conceived.
Quick was the operative word (literally and figuratively).
So come the wee hours of January 1st, as the streets were still smoking from last year’s revelry we booked a First Class accommodation in the Philippine General Hospital (really cozy I tell you, the One enjoyed her airconditioned room with TV and ref).
So at 12 weeks, the One was operated and had her berries removed. Luckily still the littlebigboy was still safely dozing off.
The One had to quit job and attend to her present state of pregnancy affairs, in bed.
Even from the womb the littlebigboy proved to be an irrepressible tyke he seems to be. But of course I don’t know it then. He was really pushing and squirming inside his little sanctuary, to the point that she’s hurting his mom’s stitches.
A week before the One’s due date she was rushed to the hospital. It turned out to be a false alarm. On the 7th day of the 7th month of this millennium’s 7th year, littlebigboy decided to come out of the One’s peephole, after a grueling 21 hours of laboring pains.
Right now he’s a precocious 4 month old littlebigboy. He has just learned how to wiggle and turn on his belly. He’s also a half kilo overweight and 4 cm longer for his age. Everyone in the household is all in their feet for his antics. He cries like a wolf in the middle of his sleep. But most of the times he’s just laughing. His hands are inseparable right now, always clasped together as if in a prayer.
This coming Saturday me, the One, and littlebigboy will go to my parent’s house in Lucena City. It will be the christening of littlebigboy’s cousin, Mariyah Denise. There he’ll meet too his irrepressible little big Ate Margarette. This weekend will be a blast!
