What a year it was (or it is, it’s still 2008 pala!).
* Lost a job and found another one.
* Up and down weather sending me and Carlos to the doctor.
* Crazy financial and political environment, local and international.
* Boston Celtics beating LA Lakers.
* Tried quitting smoky vice, ending up just ‘avin’ fag when drinking beer.
* Returning to apartment unit without former comrades (understandable since some turned gainst, oh dear…)
* Still no bass weapon (bad)
* Too many loans taken (really bad)
Oh well, better do something good for 2009. Like the red wine in the freezer. Or losing at least 5 pounds. Here’s a toast for everyone: A Happy and Full of Hope New Year to all!
I hate December. It’s the gloomiest and most expensive time of year, with all the festivities and shopping frenzy syndrome infecting all the people. At this time I have to schedule my holiday shopping, though my body wants nothing to do with it all.
To top it, I had my annual December respiratory breakdown. Just last week I lost my voice due to sored throat (a really bad thing to happen) before it became a full blown cough. The EENT said I am beginning to have allergic reactions to dust and smoke and may progress to asthma otherwise arrested.
This got me re-evaluate my health outlook. That means stopping THAT notorious vice (I tried doing that last year with disastrous results).
Now I have to try and do it again. It’s rather hard especially how cold it is right now. But it’s better than having a permanent habit of breathing from a nebulizer everytime one has asthma.
Must buy wine na lang, hahaha! Oh, need to buy gifts for inaanaks pala… I hate December!
Fight day again and it’s a jampacked crowd here at home, thanks to pay-per-view boxing viewing need not be a contest of memorizing commercials.
Hell we all know what happened, although in shock as how Oscar de la Hoya was beaten, still our bets were with Manny Pacquiao hands down. Congrats Pacman!
As I was writing this I happened to see the sports news page of the daily I bought before the fight started and skimmed those predictions these sportscasters usually offers. Things like de la Hoya’s edge, power, chutzpah, blah blah…
Only thing I can say is “Hah!” Eat your words on your next column!
I have been having a lot of really really weird dreams lately. I’m thinking if it’s caused by the stress from work, or family relationships, or as one friend would put it, the stark realization that you are in an environment surrounded by women – a lot of women and you can’t do anything about it unless you are a single male or a bastard married one.
These dreams are like marathons or should I say a writer’s sketch for a screenplay. The characters are always the same, yet in different situations. Or the same situation with a little variation. What’s surprising however is that the people in there are either ex girlfriends, women who I wished I had a romantic past with (hehe) and friends, old and new or friends I had not had met for a long time now.
There’s this dream wherein I am drinking with a beautiful chick and his father. We were drinking and discussing a lot of things like politics, sports, and practically everything. I remember I like this woman. However what’s frightfully startling is I do not know this woman and old man, never met them and I always forget their faces upon waking up; yet every time I have this dream it seemed I knew them for a long time. And I had this dream for like 10 years now, not everyday though. Twice or thrice a year I have this dream and when I do, we would always be drinking in the dream, like we are celebrating the fact that we missed each other. Really creepy.
The last dream I had is what the call an epic dream. Most of the time I have black and white dreams but this one had all the works and it is vivid I can almost feel it to the point it is like real. In there the main event should I say was when a walking serpent (yes it has legs!) started chasing me. After that it started flying. Only at a moment of perfect lucidity I stopped running thinking its not possible and only then I was able to wake up.
I don’t know if this helped me but it’s the only explanation I got
(from http://dreammoods.com)
To see a snake or be bitten by one in your dream signifies hidden fears and worries that are threatening you. Your dream may be alerting you to something in your waking life that you are not aware of or that has not yet surfaced. The snake may also be seen as phallic and thus symbolize dangerous and forbidden sexuality. The snake may also refer to a person around you who is callous, ruthless, and can’t be trusted. As a positive symbol, snakes represent transformation, knowledge and wisdom. It is indicative of self-renewal and positive changes.
I missed this view of our dining room after being away for 6 months. This is my view from my favorite lazy spot in our living room; be it morning or evening, coffee in hand and a cigarette on the other.
I took this photo last October 20, wistfully reminiscing the past 2 years in this house.5:42 am and I’m happy and sad and alone…
